What started out as a little hobby to keep

This directory rightly claims to be the first entry point to UK public
sector information on the internet. The site includes a listing of UK
public sector web sites, both alphabetical and grouped by key topic areas.
There is also a listing of each of the major UK government portals.

Businessadviceonline is the website of the UK Government's Small Business
Service. Their aim is to help all small businesses realise their
potential; promote world class business support services; promote
enterprise across society; and achieve the highest standards of service
delivery. A fast-developing site for a range of small business topics and
support.

Protection Public Register
If you are UK-based and you run an interactive website you will probably
have a database of customers. And that means you could fall foul of the
Data Protection Act. At this website you can make sure you adhere to the
law. It may not be fun but it is important.

engine. Alexa's tools allow you to find the site owner's address and
contact details, it rates the site by speed and the number of links, it
even suggests related links - and there's more besides.

Step back in time to re-visit the web sites of yesteryear! A great
resource for tracing past web sites and collating information on
companies.

Teldir is the Internet's "original and most complete" index of
online phone books, with over 400 links to Yellow Pages, White Pages,

Complete Planet is a Database Portal. They claim to have over 70,000 databases,
carefully classified and organised for you for rapid, easy access. Good
for finding details on companies and domains.

Phone Net
UK online phone directory, the equivalent of dialling Directory Enquiries.
This can be a slow site but it is cheaper than the dialled service.
International
Phone Numbers
A unique collection of international telephone, fax and e-mail
directories. Website owners Aktiv IT claim you can find anyone, anywhere.
Maybe that's a tall claim, but they come close.

MESA
- email address book
A German website that does its best to find you anyone's email address.
MESA stands for Meta-Email-Search-Agent. For any given name (last name is
required, first name is optional) MESA searches in parallel at (nearly)
all available sources of email addresses on the Internet. It says it is
the largest email address book worldwide but warns that there is no
complete directory of all email addresses. So if you can not find the
address here, it might nevertheless exist.

CountyWeb is a British interactive
business directory with a database containing 2.1 million listings. It
claims to be the largest UK business directory on the Internet. The web
site’s network of counties allows users to find a business telephone
number and address anywhere in the country. It also lists the top 1000
firms in Britain.
Postcodes
Online
With this service from the Royal Mail you can now find any postcode (zip
code) within the UK. Enter the address details and the postcode
finder will trace the postcode. Similarly if you do not know the address
but you have the postcode the address finder can help you.
Lives -
the Biography Resource
The internet's biography resource, linking to thousands of
biography-related sites, including autobiographies, journals, letters,
diaries, memoirs, biography collections, etc. With a few rare exceptions,
the biographies found here are about individuals who are no longer living
or whose public life and career are well behind them.
Dictionary
Dictionary.com gives you a free online English dictionary and reference
guide. The site includes crossword puzzles and other word games and
Word of the Day.

This excellent Microsoft encyclopedia website is one the Web's best. Vast
amounts of data and huge numbers of links. The site benefits from regular
updating.

what you need to do it - from experts and people like you. Its not just
about the Internet. eHow includes step-by-step instructions on how to do
just about anything, and buy the stuff you need to do it.
